Game Scripts
International Hobo can provide scripts tailored to the needs of a particular project. They can either be linear (all dialogue is fixed), branching (all dialogue is in fixed episodes, but flow of the plot is variable), context-dependent (as above, but dialogue in each episode is altered by the use of game variables to provide conditional text).
The following script extracts are given as examples of Hobo's script work:
- Toast
- Extracts from the original scripts for the addictive racing game 'Toast', which was eventually released as 'Mashed' with a significantly scaled down dialogue component.
- Seven Shades
- A densely plotted oriental fighting game, this small extract from the script demonstrates the flavour of the story.
- Discworld Noir
- Comedy-fantasy script from the acclaimed adventure game, written in the style of best-selling author Terry Pratchett, who described the script as "good enough to be a novel in its own right."
Game Concepts
Concept documents are the traditional starting point for game design. They provide a concise description of how the game will work, sufficient for a publisher to understand what the basic features and unique selling points of the game will be.
- Eden
- A "puzzle box" game in which the player grows a garden with time-lapse animations. Plants and animals are used in various ways to help spread seeds, thus connecting to new areas in the world.
- Gods & Monsters
- An epic game in which the legends of seven Greek heroes are told as a set of battle-oriented quests that overlap to tell the stories of the Argonauts, Heracles and Theseus.
- War Machine
- Overview of a cheap-to-implement turn based comedic strategy game with the emphasis on chaotic fun, designed primarily for multiplayer 'party play'.
- Corruption
- Battle to become President of the United States by lying, cheating, backstabbing and sleeping your way to the top.
Additional Work
In addition to concept documents, designs and scripts, International Hobo is proficient in producing manuals, helplines and additional copy services for the support and development of games.
