Wild Justice & Play

For the benefit of anyone else with an interest in animal play, a couple of references. Firstly, a recent post on Collision Detection about flying mobulas with its implication that fish may play. Secondly, I feel I should promote Marc Bekoff's work,  in particular his piece Wild Justice, Cooperation and Fair Play. And also from Marc, this apposite Darwin quote:

Those communities which included the greatest number of the most sympathetic members woud flourish best and rear the greatest number of offspring. (Charles Darwin [1871]1936:163)

Note: I didn't put this in Science, as I'm going to avoid that category from now on. I believe that posting into Science was what attracted the attention of Binky, the materialist tropism who flamed me. I'll stick to Philosophy for my philosophy of science pieces.
