Wii Sets Records in UK
August 31, 2007
The Daily Telegraph reports that the Wii has set a sales record in the UK, becoming the fastest selling console to reach a million units. It took just 38 weeks for the Wii, compared to 49 weeks for the PlayStation 2, the previous record holder. (For comparison, the Xbox 360 took 60 weeks to clear a million units, and the PS3 has yet to do so).
There is unconfirmed speculation that the Wii may now have the largest global installed base of the current generation of home consoles.
