Only comment is to ask whether you've caught any of Rock Paper Shotgun's excellent interviews with folks over at Valve. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/?p=617
That's the one with Gabe Newell, some interesting talk. I don't think the Cabal system is right for everyone (certainly valuable to have as many strong design philosophies operating out there as we can!), but it sure seems to work for them.

Hi Jack, hope all is well with you! I don't tend to watch video clips on the internet (I read fast, and find video interviews punishingly slow!) so I didn't see this. It's always interesting to learn about the internal cultures of major developers, though.
